    COLUMBIA, S.C. – April ­­18, 2012 – The South Carolina Department of Commerce today announced that Charlie Farrell will direct the new S.C. Aerospace Task Force, an advisory council to the Secretary of Commerce on the development of a strategic initiative to enhance and grow the state’s aerospace industry.

    “Boeing is our grand slam. Our challenge is to leverage that success with other great assets for South Carolina, including government, industry and education,” Farrell said.

    COLUMBIA, S.C. – November 22, 2011 – GKN Aerospace, a supplier of aerospace and aviation components, will establish a new manufacturing facility in Orangeburg County. The $38 million investment is expected to generate more than 250 jobs over the next six years.

    COLUMBIA, S.C. – September 30, 2011 – JBE Inc., a supplier to the automotive, aerospace, and lawn and garden industries, today announced the addition of at least 20 new jobs at its Darlington County facility as a result of a new contract secured with Pure Power Technologies in Columbia.  The company also announced that it has acquired an AS9100 certification.

    COLUMBIA, S.C. – September 28, 2011 – Carbures LLC, a maker of carbon fiber composite structures, today announced plans to establish its first American facility at the South Carolina Technology & Aviation Center (SCTAC) in Greenville County. The $6.5 million investment is expected to generate at least 50 new jobs in the next five years.

    COLUMBIA, S.C. – September 14, 2011 – TIGHITCO Inc., part of Charleston-based The InterTech Group, today announced plans to locate a new manufacturing facility in Charleston County. The more than $30 million investment is expected to generate 350 new jobs.
